Stanco dell'ombra eterna e della cripta, l'irrequieto vampiro Lestat (Stuart Townsend) decide di riciclarsi come
rockstar a capo di un gruppo musicale gothic rock che esordisce al pubblico con un concerto nella Death Valley. Ma la
sua musica risveglia la potentissima regina Akasha (Aaliyah), madre egizia di tutti i vampiri, che non vuole rinunciare
alla sua antica egemonia sulla terra.



La giovane cantante Aaliyah morì in un incidente aereo subito dopo la fine delle riprese, questo film è
dedicato alla sua memoria. 

La colonna sonora è stata scritta dal cantante Jonathan Davis dei KoRn (il quale appare anche in una scena del
film in veste di bagarino). Apprezzata anche come opera a sé stante, che vede insieme una quindicina di artisti
tra i quali Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Static-X, Slipknot, Disturbed e Marilyn Manson. 

Sotto molti aspetti - la regina millenaria, le musiche, l'erotismo - il film ricorda parecchio da vicino Howling II -
L'ululato. 

Pur essendo uscito nei cinema italiani a Maggio 2002, il film fu girato nel 2000.
